Itamar Orlev was born in 1975 in Jerusalem. He has published short stories in prominent Israeli literary magazines, such as Moznaim, Massmerim and Mitaam. His script for a play won first prize at the annual Beit Lessin Theatre Open Stage festival, while his debut novel, Bandit, was awarded the 2015 Sapir Prize for First Novel.
He is a graduate of the Scriptwriting Program at Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem and earned a BA in History at Tel Aviv University. He works as an editor and ghostwriter and lives in Berlin with his wife and two sons. The Lazy Sloth is his first childrens book, which contains illustrations from his wife.
